Together, these provide a strong tool for analyzing the high- latitude, near- Earth, magnetospheric environment. This report was prepared to facilitate the use of the data from one of these instruments, the space- radiation dosimeter, and to show the data can be used to obtain both dose and flux measurements of high- energy relativtic electrons and protons at low altitudes. The report includes: a description of the DMSP/F7 orbit; a description of the space- radiation dosimeter and the data it returns; the method by which dose is determined; the method by which flux is determined; and a discussion of the use of high- threshold- energy proton- and ion- induced star counts. Appendices A and B present the response of the dosimeter to electron bremsstrahlung and a list of the interactive routines available at AFGL for data analysis. Summer Student Research Presentations. Creating Presentations on ICT Classes. ERIC Educational Resources Information Center. Marchis, Iuliana.
The article focuses on the creation of presentations on ICT classes. The first part highlights the most important steps when creating a presentation. The main idea is, that the computer presentation shouldn't consist only from the technological part, i. There are many steps before and after.
The presentations range from specific and general content relating to stellar evolution and variable stars to specific activities for a workshop environment. Each audience is unique and requires a different approach. The current environment necessitates presentations that are captivating for a younger generation that is embedded in a highly visual and sound- bite world of social media, twitter and U- Tube, and mobile devices. For educators, presentations and workshops for themselves and their students must support the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), the Common Core Content Standards, and the Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) initiative.
Current best practices for developing relevant and engaging powerpoint presentations to deliver information to a variety of targeted audiences will be presented along with several examples.``A Penny Plain and Twopence Coloured,''- How the Penny Theater format was used to animate and present Mary Chapin Carpenter's book, ``Halley Came to Jackson'' to preschoolers and their families as a STEM outreach program. NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS)Jablonski, Elizabeth Jan; Jablonski, Daniel; Jablonski, Matthew; Jablonski, Peter; Green, Maureen; Green, Charles; Wyble, Megan; Ardillo, Margaret. The goal of this project is to develop a program for young children (3 to 8 years old) that provides basic information about concepts related to space, comets, time, and timelessness in a stimulating, memorable manner. The vehicle for achieving this goal is an adaptation of the children's picture book Halley Came to Jackson to a modern update of the historical Penny Theater format. The resulting ``show'' is rich in the concepts listed above, and has been presented in a variety of venues and with a variety of supplementary activities to several hundred preschoolers and their families. Based on a combination of prior research on how young children learn and careful observation and follow- up to performances of ``Halley,'' numerous findings have been developed. The Penny Theater concept and the findings of this project are discussed herein.
Recipient, APS 2. Outreach mini- grant. Wind for Schools (Presentation)Sci. Tech Connect. Kelly, M. Schools are key to achieving the goal of producing 2. Most significantly, schools are training the scientists, technicians, businesspeople, decisionmakers, and teachers of the future. What students learn and believe about wind energy will impact the United States' ability to create markets and policy, develop and improve technology, finance and implement projects, and create change in all of our public and private institutions.
In the nearer term, school districts have large facility costs, electrical loads, and utility costs. They are always in search of ways to reduce costs or obtain revenue to improve educational programs. Schools value teaching about the science and technology of renewable energy. They are important opinion leaders, particularly in rural communities.
And their financial structures are quite different from other institutions (funding, incentives, restrictions, etc.). Learning objectives: The presentation will use case studies, project experience, and discussion with the audience to convey the current status of wind energy applications and education in U. S. The presentation will provide attendees with a background in the current level of knowledge and generate discussion on several themes. Indian aerosols: present status. Pub. Med. Mitra, A P; Sharma, C2. This article presents the status of aerosols in India based on the research activities undertaken during last few decades in this region. Programs, like International Geophysical Year (IGY), Monsoon Experiment (MONEX), Indian Middle Atmospheric Program (IMAP) and recently conducted Indian Ocean Experiment (INDOEX), have thrown new lights on the role of aerosols in global change.
INDOEX has proved that the effects of aerosols are no longer confined to the local levels but extend at regional as well as global scales due to occurrence of long range transportation of aerosols from source regions along with wind trajectories. The loading of aerosols in the atmosphere is on rising due to energy intensive activities for developmental processes and other anthropogenic activities. One of the significant observation of INDOEX is the presence of high concentrations of carbonaceous aerosols in the near persistent winter time haze layer over tropical Indian Ocean which have probably been emitted from the burning of fossil- fuels and biofuels in the source region. These have significant bearing on the radiative forcing in the region and, therefore, have potential to alter monsoon and hydrological cycles. In general, the SPM concentrations have been found to be on higher sides in ambient atmosphere in many Indian cities but the NOx concentrations have been found to be on lower side. Even in the haze layer over Indian Ocean and surrounding areas, the NOx concentrations have been reported to be low which is not conducive of O3 formation in the haze/smog layer.
The acid rain problem does not seem to exist at the moment in India because of the presence of neutralizing soil dust in the atmosphere. But the high particulate concentrations in most of the cities' atmosphere in India are of concern as it can cause deteriorated health conditions. PMID: 1. 24. 92. 17. Pre- Medical Programs » Undergraduate Admissions. Pre- Medical Programs. At Boston University, while fulfilling your curriculum requirements for pre- medical, pre- dental or pre- veterinary studies, you can create your own undergraduate path to any of these careers and choose whatever major interests you most. For example, some students choose majors like biology in the College of Arts & Sciences, human physiology in the College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College, or biomedical engineering in the College of Engineering. Others get degrees in areas unrelated to their chosen career, such as linguistics, film or theatre arts while completing the required courses needed to be admitted to medical school. And still others major in two different areas of concentration at the same time, like biochemistry & molecular biology and psychology. Your path is up to you.
To help you find it, BU provides specialized pre- professional advisors for health- related careers. Your advisors will give you expert guidance on courses, research projects and other co- curricular opportunities that will help you apply to the best medical, dental or veterinary schools. Learn more about pre- health advising.
